Reasons that have caused the non-validation of postgraduate degrees in Colombia carried out abroad

Resumen

The validation of foreign degrees before the Ministry of National Education (MEN) has presented several challenges for professionals due to the lack of clarity in the implemented processes. As a result, the problem arises of identifying the most frequent causes that lead to non-validation of postgraduate degrees (master's and doctorates) obtained abroad. The objective of this research is to determine these motives or reasons through a quantitative approach with an exploratory study design. The data collection, analysis, and evaluation are carried out using the Big Data technique and the Excel Pivot tool. The results of the study show that the most common reasons for rejection are the lack of equivalence of degrees in Colombia, discrepancies in hours of practice, inequality in the number of academic credits, and requests for documents that other universities do not issue.
